SH1 upgrade - safety on both sides of the temp fence!

As we’ve mentioned many times, each construction site has unique hazards and safety measures that need to be considered.

With continued improvements to Auckland’s infrastructure, our Temp Fence team worked closely with our client to resolve logistical issues while installing just under 500 metres of temporary fencing with shade cloth on SH1, between Tecoma & Ellerslie Panmure off ramps.

The problem

To install temporary fencing with shade cloth that would ensure the safety of onsite workers and passing traffic - without intruding onto the Motorway, or reducing our Client’s workspace.

The temporary fence solution

The installation was coordinated in three phases;

  1. Installing the temporary fencing panels with flat steel feet
  2. The feet were ‘dyna bolted' to the asphalt road, giving extra strength and stability to the fence.
  3. The final stage was installing the shade cloth to each temporary fence panel to cut down on dust particles that could cause a driving hazard by distracting motorists.

This temporary fence created a generous workspace on the side of the one of Auckland’s busiest stretches of motorway. Thorough planning and real teamwork between GHL Temp Fence and the client, ensured that this temp fence was quickly installed and secured.
